Jan P. Perlwitz, Ph.D., Independent Scientist, Owner & Manager

Dr. Perlwitz's expertise is in Earth system studies, especially the modeling of aerosols in the atmosphere, their role in various physical and chemical processes, and their effect on climate. The scientific research is focused on predicting the mineral composition of dust aerosols, dust mineral chemistry, ice nucleation in mixed phase and ice clouds, minerals as cloud condensation nuclei, soluble iron processing in the atmosphere, radiative forcing by dust minerals, and the relevance of all of these processes for paleo-, present, and future climate. The work is done in close collaboration with scientists at NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies and Columbia University in the City of New York.

Dr. Perlwitz is also available for consulting work in the areas of climate analysis, aerosols, and pollution research for private sector companies and other organizations.
